Back of the Yards youth receiving shoes during the Shoe Giveaway (The Gate)
Local McDonald’s owner/operators, John and Carmen De Carrier and the Golden State Foods (GSF) Foundation partnered with Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council (BYNC) to provide more than 150 pairs of shoes for children in Back of the Yards through GSF Foundation’s Best Foot Forward program.
The GSF foundation is a non-profit organization that helps to improve the lives of children and families in need, where GSF associates live and work.
On Wednesday, Jan. 17, Back of the Yards families received shoes for the children. This is the second year that BYNC and GSF Foundation has come together to donate to shoes to youth in BOTY.
The GSF foundation partnered with other organization in various neighborhoods in the city of Chicago to hold shoe giveaways in areas where the McDonald’s owner and operators such as John and Carmen De Carrier have their businesses.
The De Carriers shared a few sentiments. “We are proud and honored once again to work with the GSF Foundation Best Foot Forward program to donate more than 600 pairs of shoes to children in our community.” said the De Carriers. “Businesses working with community groups like Casa Central, Erie Elementary Charter School, Erie Neighborhood House, and Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council can have a positive impact on children’s lives in many ways.”
The GSF Foundation was proud to partner with the De Carriers. “The Chicago GSF Foundation Committee is so proud to partner with our valued customers, John and Carmen De Carrier, for the second year in a row to help these children in need,” said Nick Franek, GSF Foundation’s committee chair, and GSF transportation supervisor.
With this most recent donation, the GSF foundation has funded more than 23,000 pairs of shoes to children and families in need across the U.S.
